Okay, first things first again:
One thing that's been impossible not to notice is the extent to which the athletes, in their post-event interviews, gawp at the support of the crowd. I've heard phrases such as, "It was like having a third person in the boat with us" and "I've never heard anything like it in my life" and "the crowd just kept me going." Team GB a team effort, then.
And aside from that, the British athletes just routinely seem like such completely lovely people. Check out Jessica Ennis, heptathalon champion, and Mo Farah, winner of the 10,000m, just to pick a couple. Those pages have video of the finishes at top listen to the roar! and post-event interviews if you scroll down on the left. (*) We happen to have some lovely out-of-country guests this week, which has reminded me that a lot of you are watching this on NBC rather than the BBC, which I presume is a rather different experience.
We went and had a cruise around the various points of Olympic interest in Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens (largely due to still not being able to get tix to the actual Olympic Park) and here are some photos.
The Beeb isn't allowing embedding, and right now I can be bothered neither to reverse-engineer their embed code nor to violate their copyright by grabbing and re-uploading the video…
