On the other hand, Woody Allen famously said that "80% of success is just showing up." He also said, somewhere, that luck is a much bigger factor in success, particularly the success of artistic people, than any of them would like to admit. I can't find that quote, but in looking I stumbled on these two good meditations on the power of showing up (i.e. starting) and on positioning (plus showing up) as possibly bigger (or at any rate more controllable) factors in success than either talent or luck.
