So I'm super-tickled to announce that many years and thousands of lives later I have launched lovely paperback editions of my D-BOYS books: D-BOYS and COUNTER-ASSAULT!

Available from Amazon, Amazon Europe and, erm, other places! I am told (by the super-lovely people at CreateSpace) that this includes: “bookstores and online retailers, libraries and academic institutions, and CreateSpace Direct (wholesale).” And but of course Amazon sells 41% of new books in the U.S. anyway…

As an addendum, I’ll add that I still really like both these books, but particularly COUNTER-ASSAULT in addition to proofing the paperback, I’ve also been reviewing work in progress for the forthcoming audiobook edition; it was a pretty ambitious project, and I think I pulled it off and readers seem to really like it, as well. Uniquely amongst all my titles (and the vast majority of books, virtually all of which get negative reviews, no matter how fabulous), this one enjoys a 4.8-star average for reviews on Amazon on all 5-star (82%) and 4-star (18%) reviews. That's zero 3-star, 2-star, or 1-star reviews. I don't know how I pulled that off, and don’t expect it to last forever, but it’s pretty damned gratifying. I’m blessed with some truly awesome readers, and this is one of their kindest gifts to me. (*)

Actually, the rule-proving exception is pretty amusing: a 1-star review did appear written by a military veteran who took serious exception with some of the realism (and several other aspects) of the book. I was briefly gutted to lose my “perfect record” but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it was fair play. I wrote a quick response to the review, acknowledging the validity of the guy’s criticisms and, more to the point, his authority to criticize and thanked him for his service. He subsequently took the review down. Seriously nice gesture.
