Thanks for the story, Michael, complete with pictures! I am all alone for the summer (well, ok, at a graduate school of a couple thousand), and reading your dispatch became a friendly part of my routine.

I have to say, most of the time I thought this trip was ridiculous, or, rather, the desire to climb hills and slog through moors in the wind and rain was so. (You see, I'm the sort who runs only when chased, slogs, well, er, never. A personal defect, you might say.)
