"The Lion and the Unicorn"
From: "Fuchs Michael" To: <lots-o'-folks> Subject: Iranian Embassy Protest (tonight) Date: Thu, 25 Jun 2009 08:01:57 +0100 As you will no doubt have noticed (even if you've pretty much completely stopped taking the news, as I have), Iran continues to burn - both with the oppression of the mullahcracy, and also with a tremendous desire for freedom and human rights. There's a semi-organised protest/rally outside the Iranian Embassy every night this week, 6-9pm. (I've read it's the most beautiful and well-turned-out group of protesters anyone's ever seen, if that's any inducement - and the time it's scheduled for underscores that these folks have jobs and school and lives, unlike a lot of recent protesters I might mention.) Photos of a recent one. Anyway, I don't want to miss the chance to turn out and stand for an hour or two in solidarity with our Iranian brothers and sisters, right when they need us most. The world really does seem to be watching. I aim to arrive for about 6pm. If you'd like to join me, that would be fab - if you care to pass this on or blog (or, God save me, tweet) about it, that would be fab, too. If you're coming, let me know to look out for you. Conveniently located across the street from Hyde Park: http://tinyurl.com/nfqvx7 (gmap) No poster-making session this time, but maybe this weekend if it all still goes on . . . Many thanks, Michael
